Starcloud

Starcloud is pioneering the development of data centers in space, initially focusing on delivering GPU computing power to other satellites. Their long-term vision addresses the escalating energy demands driven by the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence. Capitalizing on decreasing launch expenses, Starcloud aims to leverage the unique advantages of space, including abundant energy resources, efficient radiative cooling, and the capacity for rapid scalability. In late 2025, Starcloud successfully launched its inaugural satellite, Starcloud-1, equipped with a high-performance Nvidia H100 GPU, marking a significant advancement in space-based computing capabilities. This achievement enabled them to become the first organization to train a large language model (LLM) and operate a version of Gemini in space. Furthermore, Starcloud plans to conduct high-powered inference on Capella SAR data in orbit. The company is preparing to launch its second satellite in October 2026, featuring a substantial increase in power generation capacity. Starcloud anticipates that space-based data centers will become the dominant choice for new deployments within the next decade due to energy considerations.
