REGENT is pioneering a novel transportation solution poised to transform regional mobility by 2026. Their flagship product, the seaglider, represents an innovative all-electric flying boat that utilizes hydrofoils and operates close to the water's surface. This unique design enables the seaglider to achieve twice the range of conventional electric aircraft, while adhering to maritime regulations, significantly reducing market entry costs and complexities.
REGENT has successfully mitigated technological risks through the development and testing of a quarter-scale flying demonstration vehicle. They are on track to conduct manned flights with their first full-scale prototype seaglider, weighing 15,000 lbs (7000kg), by the summer. This milestone will mark the largest electric-powered flying machine to date.
Anticipated for commercial deployment in late 2026, REGENT's seagliders, initially configured with 12 seats, will be integrated into the operations of airlines and ferry companies. A larger, 100-passenger variant is planned for subsequent release, already backed by confirmed orders.
Within four years, REGENT has secured pre-orders exceeding $10 billion, inclusive of firm deposits, from prominent airlines and ferry operators globally. The company, currently comprised of 100 professionals, is spearheaded by MIT-educated, former Boeing engineers Billy Thalheimer and Mike Klinker. REGENT has successfully raised over $100 million in funding from notable investors such as Founders Fund, Japan Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Lockheed Martin, and holds a contract with the US Marine Corps.
