Neptyne

Neptyne was conceived as a novel, programmable spreadsheet application, integrating a comprehensive Python environment akin to a Jupyter notebook directly within its framework. To enhance accessibility, particularly for users without extensive Python expertise, Neptyne incorporated AI-driven features designed to simplify the programming process. The core objective was to empower individuals familiar with spreadsheet software like Excel to transition into programming, unlocking new possibilities for data manipulation and analysis.

Founded by Douwe, who previously launched successful products at Google across Search, Mobile, and Workplace divisions, Neptyne benefited from his extensive experience in both large tech companies and startup ventures. Douwe's background also includes authorship of a book on deep learning. After a period back at Google, Douwe partnered with Jack and others to form the Neptyne team.

Following its launch on Hacker News in February 2023, Neptyne saw considerable user engagement, with thousands of spreadsheets created on the platform. Users leveraged Neptyne to develop a diverse range of applications, including sophisticated option trading systems and machine learning classifiers.
