Membo was designed as a next-day grocery delivery service catering to premium consumers across Europe. Drawing inspiration from PinDuoDuo Groceries in China, Membo aimed to provide the most efficient method for ordering weekly groceries directly from local food producers. The convenience offered by traditional supermarkets and rapid 15-minute grocery apps often compromises freshness, with produce being stored in warehouses for extended periods. Membo sought to address this by facilitating a direct producer-to-consumer delivery model, ensuring optimal freshness. The platform enabled customers to order directly from numerous local food producers, with a delivery system optimized to prioritize the freshness of each product. Founded by Vahur Hansen, a former early engineer at TransferWise, and Paula Kink, who previously established her own healthtech venture, Membo launched in December 2020 and achieved a 30% month-over-month growth rate for eight months, fulfilling over 4000 orders in Tallinn, Estonia. Unfortunately, the company is now inactive.
