Gantto emerged from a need to streamline project management workflows. The founders observed a recurring inefficiency: the weekly process of gathering status updates, meticulously updating project models, and then dedicating significant time to manually creating presentations based on the same underlying data. Dissatisfied with existing solutions, they embarked on developing their own platform to address this pain point.
The name "Gantto" is a play on "Gantt chart," a widely recognized visual tool for representing project schedules. Gantt charts are named after Henry Gantt, who popularized them in the early 20th century. However, the concept originated earlier with Karol Adamiecki, a Polish economist and engineer, who invented a similar chart in 1896, initially calling it a harmonogram.
